SPRING BALL

Instruction and fun are the focus in all divisions at Wildfire. We strive to teach the players the fundamental skills of throwing, fielding, hitting, base running, and sliding.  The players gain experience in all positions on the field.  As the divisions progress, instruction, competition, and game strategy develop at an age appropriate level.  All divisions play USA Softball (formerly ASA - Amateur Softball Association) rules with some local rule modifications for age, development, and safety.  Except for T-Ball, all teams practice at least 1x per week with games on Saturdays or Sundays.  As the season progresses, games are scheduled during the week.

Our spring season is a 12 game schedule culminating in a Fun Day Round Robin for the 8U divisions and with playoffs and league championship for the 10U and 12U division.

T-Ball: the players meet on Saturday mornings to have fun learning softball through drills, games, and scrimmages.

8U: This division is coach pitch.  Players continue to develop their fundamental softball skills and position play, base running and basic game strategy. Player pitch is introduced mid-season.

10U: This division is player pitch, with coach assisted pitch per local rules.  The players continue to work on the fundamental skills of softball, gain experience at all positions on the field, and are introduced to more specialized hitting skills to include bunting and progression of game strategy.  Only interested players play the pitcher or catcher positions.

12U: This division is player pitch only.  In this division, teams are assigned based on talent, to keep the competitive level of play balanced within the division.  Instruction advances to include defensive and offensive strategies and to hone specialize skills such as bunting, stealing, outfield play and catching.   Players usually begin to specialize in learning specific field positions at this level.

14U & 16U: These divisions are our most competitive divisions.  They offer a solid level of play while allowing new players to learn all the skills necessary to enjoy the game.  These teams will play a 12 game schedule with playoffs and championship game against other rec softball leagues in the local areas using USA Softball rules with some local modifications agreed upon between leagues.

Field locations will vary for all age groups, and will include Kelly Field, West Goshen Community Park, East Goshen Community Park, and the West Chester Area School District middle schools.
